Meet Jackie from Blue-Bee Dog Grooming: Why I’m Jumping into the North Sea on Boxing Day…
As many of you in Redcar and Cleveland know, I’m Jackie, and I run Blue-Bee Dog Grooming in Borough Park, Redcar (blue-beedogs.co.uk). Every day, I see the powerful, unconditional love between owners and their dogs. Our furry friends aren’t just pets; they’re family.
This Boxing Day, I’m turning my affection for dogs into action. I’ll be running into the icy waves of the North Sea at Redcar for the annual Redcar Boxing Day Dip! (Yes, December, North Sea… what could possibly go wrong? 😂)
I’m taking the plunge to raise vital funds for Street Paws (streetpaws.org.uk), a fantastic, small charity dedicated to supporting the dogs of people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable situations.
The Unbreakable Bond: Why Street Paws Matters
For people who are homeless, their dog is often their most crucial support system—their only constant, their family, and their reason to keep going. Street Paws works tirelessly to preserve this essential bond by providing free vet care and support.
This charity ensures that these vulnerable dogs can:
- Get Veterinary Care when they’re unwell, addressing urgent needs like illness and injury.
- Access Essential Prevention like vaccinations and microchipping, promoting long-term health.
- Stay Together: They help make accommodation and hostels pet-friendly, so no one ever has to choose between a warm bed and their best friend.
